MB 722.3 transmission ATF compatibility
HI,
MB dealer provided MB ATF134 for the 722.3 transmisison on the 1990 300e. I am in doubt this is the oil specified is Dexron II. Will i damage the tranny wiht this "expensive" oil? Thanks, Francesco |

You won't damage it, but you are throwing a ton of money down the drain. Return it and get Valvoline Dex III from any auto parts store.

If the oil is OK to use, I have already recovered the initial shock of the $200 cost for oil. I have just rebuilt the transmission myself - thank you Ps2cho for your great web site - and saved myself from a big expense. For the first and last time I will use the ATF 134 then follow your advice.
Since the exhaust is out I will change valve seals and valve guides? and head gasket which is leaking. I have some difficulties gathering up the torque settings for all the nuts and bolts I am removing, may be I am too picky. Ps2cho I will follow your threads again. Thanks again, Francesco |
