'88 300d engine gearox swap

Hi
I have an 88 manual 300d and have been offered an engine and autog earbox from a 95 petrol auto. Would it be fairly straight for me to dump my old worn out engine and transmission and put the newer ones in. Obviously there would be things like the kick down switch and shifter to put in as well. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
David Wells
