why the hate about plugs

I was old enough to under stand when car makers left the dinosuar non resistor plugs. They were wreaking havoc on TV and FM channels.Police couldn't hear radios.
Why did Mercedes stick with old technology? For one last two sets Ive run were resistor plugs,Even the $12 plugs reduce voltage at the coil making them last longer.I have original coil at 177,000 miles
If iridium works for one driver why belittle him,or runs resistor plugs.I have racing timeslip to prove my plugs are good, there btter than NGKs,and I run the Denso brand, next brand will have 3 grounding straps.I get better mileage than most 320s

Mercedes "didn't stick with old technology"....
The resistance is built into the spark plug wire connector.
Using a resistor plug with the correct wires increases the overall resistance and can decrease performance.
Electronics are sensitive to parameters outside of the design range.
Increased resistance can cause long term degradation of the ignition module.

Its probably negligible and you won't notice a difference by foot only. I just want to avoid long term accelerated degradation of components since it wasn't designed this way.
