Quick Question on rotor choice

Balo (OE), Brembo ATE or Zimmerman. for the Queen Mary - 99 E320

I recently put new front Balo rotors and ATE pads on my 91SL. There were no fitment issues or problems with antilock sensors or squeels. Car stops about the same as before the replacements. Original rotors (115K miles) were worn close to limit of tolerance.

Zimmerman or ATE all the way. If you buy ATE and they are made in china, return them!

Where did you get the Balo"s
and
thanks, how does one know they are "not made in China"? are they stamped

None of those are junk brands, I'd go with whichever is cheapest.

After 3 years of a "warped from new" ATE disc, I replaced the 2 rears with MB discs. Normal service now resumed.

I'm on my second set of ATE slotted on the 190 and my first pair of slotted on the 300 and no issues with either. Running ATE pads as well IIRC. Stopping power on the 190 will put you through the windshield. The 300 a little less so.

well ended up with Zimemrman, I was a little reluctant to chance a pair of China ATE's since I have to do all mail order and returns are a hassle
thanks all

I buy whatever cheap, and they last good with ceramic pads

meltedpanda 06-08-2013 04:12 PM

I did get the akebona ceramics

the best choice are MB rotors from the dealer or similar and then the OEM brands like Balo, Zimmerman and ATE.

Warped rotors are usually caused by the tire shops gunning the lug bolts super tight.
