W210 interior parking handle adjustment?
1997 W210 E420 - While I was replacing my brake light switch I noticed that my parking brake release handle has some "slop" to it. I searched for this on the search engine but to no avail.
Is there some sort of adjustment that can be made to take up about 1/4 to 3/8" slack? Or would that be done under the car? I did look to see if the handle was broken but from what I can tell I cannot see anything, although I could/don't know how to remove it. I remove the two phillips screws but it still won't come out. |
The central adjuster is under the backseat cushion, and each wheel's brake is adjusted via the star-wheel adjuster accessed through a hole in the rotor.

Yes, I am aware of that location, I was thinking perhaps that it looks like there is a round white "sleeve" thing that may in fact be on the wrong side of the handle...I will have to take a closer look. It may be and looks like someone prior to me owning this car has done some work under the steering wheel before.
I will keep you posted as I finally got the brake light switch today and will be putting everything back together. |
Ok, took the brake release handle apart and it there is nothing wrong with the routing of the e-brake release cable to the handle....I don't think it has anything to do with the cable adjust under the seat as Hirnbliss may think as I am not concerned with any adjustment to the wheels.
I am referring to the release handle/cable slop......release handle works but there is a lot of play in the handle..... |
Bump....really nobody can help??

Ther's no adjuster for the release cable. The handle itself may have worked itself loose; it has 2 screws holding it in, IIRC. See the attachment here for a diagram on the W220.
