How Do You Remove These Hoses?
 

As I'm in the process of taking my AC system apart, I was wondering if anyone knew off-hand the size of the large nut on the AC hose in the attached photo? The largest open-end wrench I have is 7/8, and that's to small.

In addition, I was wondering what the best way was to loosen that nut and the one in the other photo without over-stressing anything, as I can't seem to get a counter-hold on anything in the second photo?

Also, are these nuts things that normally have to be torched before you can loosen them.
