So it was bad cap, killed battery trying to crank, and killed starter?

yes a combo of things.... the battery was about 7 years old.. starter the best i could tell was original. the coil looked original..and it was putting out a weak spark...
in hindsight...the car was just a bit hard to start the past few months....actually it would...and then idle funny until it warmed up.... i really thought that problem was a vacuum leak that i couldn't find... i still think i will have to replace the hoses buried under the distributor... at 24 years old the car has a ton of life in it....but some things just have to be re-freshed.... i also have to do tie rod ends at some point.. that's just the way it is.
