Plan on replacing the shifter cable now lol. Hopefully not the entire cold start shifter unit...
Not sure what the goal is...but at BARE minimum please reseal front pump and replace the B3 reverse bands. But after doing it twice myself, you gotta raise the engine otherwise its really really difficult.

I believe you would call that the upshift delay solenoid. The TV cable is the cable but the box is the upshift delay. You disconnect the cable up by the throttle linkage, if you are removing the trans. Or sometimes that needs to be replaced, I think it is easily done as a seperate item. But ultimately the TV cable needs to be disconnected to pull the trans, unless you are some sort of glutton for punishment.

Also, why would I want an Upshift delay in the first place? |

Not really to warm up the engine faster but to warm up the O2 sensors faster, it is an emissions thing, helps get the engine in to closed loop faster. You may or may not notice the upshifts taking place a little later when the engine is cold, this is what makes that happen.
