Just curious. Why do Mercedes have the raised edges on each side of the windshield, and why do the mercedes wheels have holes between each lug bolt.

the raised edges on the A-pillar are there so that rainwater goes over the roof and not into the side windows, keeping them clean.

the small holes between each bolt hole are for the device that mounts/handles the wheel.

The downside of the raised edges is on the
winter time.Snow accumulate on the edges.
It blocks your vision esp. when making a
turn.Especially left turn. :(

i believe those raised edges also create a lot of wind noise

The holes in the wheels are for connecting ALIGNMENT equiptment both at the factory & at dealers who use factory suggested alignment equiptment.
WE use that style if QUICK mount adaptor for the projectors

The purpose of the holes in the wheels is, as stated, to mount the alignment head.

The actual purpose is not the form of attachment itsself but the fact that the head goes through the holes with calibrated pins and reads the face of the wheel hub. The point being: not having to raise the car to do a run-out calibration. Not only does this save time, it also allows the alignment in the "as driven" state. The act of lifting causes the car to come back down slightly different than it was when driven into place.
