remote start on a W124
I have a 93 300D, i recently installed an alarm system, a Viper with Remote Start. The Remote Start will not work on my car, it will crank the engine, however, without the key in the ignition, there is no fuel going into the engine. Is there anything out there that i can run to my alarm that will open this vaccuum...has anyone else ever tried to put a Remote Start on a 300D??
Thanks in advance... |
You need to get the fuel pump to turn on.
IN the on position of the key, there should be a wire that when tested stays on during engine cranking. That should be the fuel pump lead. the alarm probably needs to be wired into this with the remote starter. Do you have the wiring diagram for the car? That would help. But I believe that isthe principal for it. I would also post about this in the car audio forum, scott from La jolla Audio always has a good answer. I havent done many alarms, but I have a friend who told me about this, should be similar for any car, but there might be a good place to tap into the wiring for it I don't know about. Alon |
The problem with most Diesels possibly including your car is that there is a mechanical vacuum switch in the key switch that tells the injection pump whether or not the engine should be running. It should be possible to set up something with electrical vacuum switches to simulate the key being in the car.
AFAIK, no one in the Diesel Discussion forum has bothered to make this work. Sixto 91 300SE 81 300SD |
