2002 CLK55 Radiator Fan Removal
Hello all,
I searched through the treads but could not find instructions on removing the radiator fan on a 2002 CLK55 not sure if it differs from other models but I would think not. I purchased a 36mm fan removal tool set from Ebay which comes with a 36mm wrench and a tool with 3 holes to hold the fan in place via the fan bolts but the problem Im having is that I cant get the 2 tools to fit at the same time where the base of the fan (the round part where the blades join the base) seems to have a lip that gets in the way of both of the tools fitting at the same time but either one fits one at a time with no problem. Im trying to replace my fan belt tension-er where I have hit a snag. Any thoughts? Do I have to take off the 3 allen bolts which connect the fan to the fan clutch first? Is there a how to someone can direct me to? I have attached a pic of the tool set I purchased. Thanks, Aaron |

Does the tool that has the 3 holes on it fit onto the 3 bolts on the pulley?
For my E430, I bought a similar tool and the holes weren't quite big enough on the eBay tool to fit over the bolt heads. I ended up jamming it in at an offset angle and was able to put enough pressure to loosen the 36mm fan bolt.
