W123 throttle cable - clip?

Hi folks,

I've just got my W123 coupe up and running, after converting it from a 280 to a 230.

It's got a bit of a sticky throttle - having lubricated the linkage fully it still seemed to be sticking open a little. Hooking my toe under the pedal and pulling it up sometimes worked, but had a tendancy to make the cable pop out of the bracket attached to the firewall. There's a barbed white plastic part of the outer that fits into a rubber grommet on this braket. There's what looks like a groove for a clip on the white plastic part, but for the life of me I can't remember taking a clip off the cable.

I've lubricated the cable with a bit of oil as well, but wondering whether it needs more, or whether I'm missing a clip.

Grateful if someone can let me know whether the cable should be clipped.

Thanks,

Mike
