95 SL600 Air shocks Probelm. Help Please

I currently own 95 SL600 with air struts . I have a problem with a rear suspension. When the car is in off possition and I test the shocks (by pushing the car down) it goes right back up, which means that the shocks are good. Now I've tried doing the same thing when I stared the car and the result was the same, i would actually say that it was even stiffer. When I drive the car and I hit the bump, only my rear bouces back very badly and it seems like that the shocks are bad, but this car has an air suspension and I do not know how it operates. How can I solve this problem? What needs to be changed: air struts or accumulator lemforder (hhas to do with air suspension). Somone has told me that it's a known problem, but i need the answer how to resolve this issue.
Please help.
Thank you
Steven

I might be wrong, but I didn't think the MB's had air. You should have a hydraulic suspension. Check the suspension fluid in the resevoir under the hood, this fluid should be changed periodically to maintain the suspension system.

From the description of the ride, it sounds like you need a pair of nitrogen cells (accumulators). Bed cells can give a log wagon ride.

My dad has a 1994 sl600. apparently the suspension as far as I have been told is hydraulic.

His car had problems with it sitting too low. He had to have it repaired. I am not sure what happened, but his car drives great and drove great even before.

I'll do the test you have done and let you know what I find on his car. I'll also try to find out what they did to the hydraulic system. IT could be hydraulic pressure is building up too much?

i had the same problem on my 1995 SL 600. I had all 4 air cell replaced and hydraulic fluid change. After a few bleeding procedures. the car ride very well. So i would recommend change all of them
