There is probably a part number and serial number stamped into the case near the pan.

Dave,

You do get hits for the part number

6012705101

or

601 270 51 01

with spaces

Here's a link to a web page for you

MERCEDES-BENZ AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

There is suggests that the transmission you have is a 720.110

W 4 A 018 - so that's old!

This number is also confirmed by the numbers you gave above =>

6012705101720 11002 019716

6012705101 (part number) 720 110 (transmission type) 02 (something I don't understand!!!) 019716 (serial number)

Oh sorry - the point of this is to fix your leak of course - you need to get in touch with the people on the vintage forum who will probably be able to help you find a schematic / tell you what to do. I've never seen your transmission before so I doubt if I'll be of any use...

HYMER DAVE 07-14-2013 03:19 AM

Hi stretch, thanks for that going to look after breakfast, sounds like I have a very old box, had a few problems with air leaks but that's sorted now and this leak but apart from that the running gear of this old hymer is mint, dave

HYMER DAVE 07-14-2013 03:38 AM

Hi stretch, you said you never seen my box before so you would be of no use, I disagree your info is helping me, thank you dave.

This is not too "old" transmission - it is mounted on the Type 601 (TN/T1-series), model 209 D, equipped with OM617 engine.
It has a 270 mm torque convertor, vacuum modulator as on 722-series gearboxes, K1 clutch the same as on the 722.111-113/120/122, K2 clutch - as on the 722.120/122.
