One foot on the other side.

I have my diesel sitting in the yard - covered up waiting for cosmetic repair (which Im slowly gathering parts for)

to cart me around Ive got myself a 2000 E320 with 150K miles. Its a pretty decent car (a bit jap feeling - miss the old tactical feel of the W124). anyway

first things first.

asking for oil recommendation on this engine is like pandoras box. in EU people are running regular dino oils in these changing at 5000 kms. in US the recommendation is 0w40 mobil 1 or nothing.

Im more thinking of synthetic rotella 5W40 - I have two jugs of it sitting on the shelf and have got a brand new spare fleece filter with the car. Anyone with any points to chime in.

Im also going to change the electric pilot bushing (from chrysler dealer) of the transmission, found a very small trace of oil in the trans connector in the TCU (stuffed a rag on the wiring to soak up any remaining oil). Used piece of tubing to measure the fluid (it was clean too).
