190E interior swap? Thoughts?

So I found a 190E at the junkyard (with ASR no less!) that has a black interior. It was leather I believe as they did not have the same full length seat striping like mine do.

The driver's side seat bolster needs replaced though.. I figure I could get the interior for fairly cheap $100-150 maybe...

My 190E is grey/mother of pearl exterior with grey interior now...

What do you guys think? Worth it? Do it? No?

I wish I had pictures.

On the 190E I just bought the dealer pulled the seat apart to repair the driver's side bolster - it looked like an easy job.

A leather interior in good condition has to be worth at least $200 anywhere in the first world.

The yard doesnt move much Mercedes parts. They gave me a cruise actuator for free. I usually go there and come out with pretty good deals. My seats in my custom built chairs down here were only $50 total. Same for each of the control arms on my 300SD's.

The problem I'm trying to resolve is how the heck to get it out of there. "Foreign" row is way in the back. No way in hell I'm going to haul a chair up there. We used to drive my buddy's Jeep down there but they now converted the lot to a "pick - n - pull" style place so I dont know how well that would work.

For the swap to black, don't forget the center console, A, B and C pillar covers and door trim. You'll also need the black door seals and door cards.

Well speak with the yard may be they'll have a solution for you...

...they might even lend you their Chinook so you can hoist it all out of there.

Hmm last time I got the seats out of a 300E they brought it up to a building in the front of the facility and we stripped it out there.

Maybe they'll do they same.

I was thinking of a list of parts I would take...rear to front

3rd brake light
hat rack
c-pillars
rear seat
rear door cards
rear floor mats
floor carpet
front seats
b pillars
front floor mats
center control lower half
door sills
front kickpanels
transmission tunnel carpets?
a pillar
sunvisors and clips

Headliner? I dont remember if the colors are different or all the same for the 190E's

To me, the MBtex on an old Mercedes is preferable to leather due to its longevity. The older leather is always cracked and worn.

Hrmmmm I am somewhat reluctant to do this mostly because
1-Lazy
2-Lot of work
3-Still have to have seat repaired
4-190 isnt driven all that often
