need info on cluster buttons 1998 e320

The instrument cluster on my 1998 has 3 buttons on either side of the cluster. on the left it's 0 - + and on the left R M H I figure the M is minutes and H is hours, but I have no idea how to set the time. I do not have an owners manual.

I have seen a message pop up do you want to check the oil level? but I have no idea how to get that message, or what button to press to show the oil level,,,

0= reset of the trip odometer
M= minutes hold down to scroll
H= hours hold down to scroll

There are various combinations that can be pressed to do different things. I'd go online and buy a used owners manual. Handy thing to have and shouldn't set you back.

Also, if you're in a bind, take it to a dealer and the service adviser, if not a complete a**hole, will help you out.

The + and - buttons should brighten and dim the instrument cluster lighting, respectively.

Owners manuals back to model year 2000 can be downloaded from the MBUSA website. Unfortunately this is of limited use to you because the 210 went through and update for model year 2000. Still, it is likely worthwhile to pull down a copy.

Hold the O button for a couple of seconds to reset the trip odometer.

The R button is the Multi-function Reset button. If you get an error message (Lamp Defective, etc) you can clear it to return to a normal display but it will return the next time the key is turned on.

Oil level check - Turn the key to position #2 and wait. When the 'Check oil level message appears' press O button twice quickly. If the car has been running you will get a message to wait. Wait 5 min for the oil to drain back into the pan.

There's enough electronics on the W210 that a manual is almost a must. The best place to get a manual is at the dealer. They are cheaper than eBay and you'll end up with the correct one for your model.
