radio installation help
new radio put in but no sound in the speakers..
the new radio had connections for front and rear speakers. the original radio only had right and left wires to the radio. since i seemed to only have one 'set', i just connected the new radio's 'front' wires to the old radio's left and right. what did i do wrong? does the fader have something to do with this? ps. i also posted this on the multimedia forum without a response so I am hoping that someone here could help |
I think the fader is a potentiometer. You can delete it with butt connectors, or run new wires for the rear speakers. Have you pulled the fader to test the connections? If it doesn't have a good connection then I could see the speakers not working, also did it work before?

It could very well be a fader related problem.
To check if the wires you've used are the ones you thought they were you can test that the speakers work by connecting them to a 1.5V battery - click say the +tve connection on and off the battery and listen out for a click at the speaker. With a modern radio it is best just to either extend the rear speaker wires from the fader or put in new wire as the mercerator (thayer) said. |
