PLEASE HELP ML 430 WON'T START

Car would'nt start due to battery. Took battery and had it recharged. The next day, car would not start, so tried to jump battery, and that did not work the battery had dead cell. Replaced battery and car started, but within 30 mins battery was dead and car would not start. Had alternator rebuilt today, battery charged, but still won't start.

Please help! Would could be the problem? You may call me 630-803-3714

Well, starting systems are typically very simple. As you say, it's a battery to starter thing. A weak battery can wear out a starter, constant low amp starting Is not smiled upon by starters. Now with a fresh battery, what do the starting attempts sound like? If it sounds like grinding, then the starter needs to be rebuilt. If its just a click, its the solenoid.

THANK YOU

Thayer thank you soooooo much fot replying.

Yes the starter id clicking, but is it bad? Or is it a result of the battery being down. We had the altenator and cylinoid rebuilt yesterday and its not starting....we are taking both parts back today and trying another shop to rebuild the parts....any advice to me? Will having the parts rebuilt again damage them?

I am a woman, and know very little about these matters, and i don't want to be taken advantage of.

Clicking means that its not your ignition switch which is good.

Clicking and nothing else means the starter isn't getting sufficient power to turn.

That could mean one of two things, battery is weak or starter is worn out requiring too much power to turn.

I'd charge the battery overnight just to make sure. If it doesn't start but does click with a fully charged battery, then it's the starter.
