This is like the old days when message boards didn't exist and the method of communication was subscribing to a mailing list. Someone would go on vacation ( or business trip ) , turn on the auto reply " Hi, I am out of the office until X X X X " . Each time something was posted to the list their e mail would generate another " Hi I am out. . "
