W201 Replacment Rocker Panel / Sill?

Hey everyone,

I was working on my 190E today and decided to look in the jack hole area...

Its pretty bad. The jack and lift points are still present and strong but the surrounding metal is rusting away...

The car has 240,000 miles on it.

I was just curious and I actually didnt expect to find any replacement panels but I actually came across these:

http://www.andysautosport.com/mercedes/1984_1993_190/exterior/body_panels/sherman/

Anyone think these would work?

The klokkerholm panels via fixmyrust.com are a little cheaper. I have not tried them so I cannot provide a first hand recommendation.

Thanks for that link!

Price wasn't really my concern however I was concerned with availability, now I have two options! They even have rear fenders too. Thats cool.

No 126 parts though. You wouldnt' happen to know a source for this part, for a W126?

Have you compared these options with the dealer item?

This thread was right on time for me. I have the jack hole rust through on my 87 W124. I was talking to my welder friend yesterday about a weld repair. Looks do-able. But it may be a better fix, and an easier fix, to get some new panels.

Does anybody have any experience with this repair? Are the new panels welded, glued or what?

I would imagine they are to be welded in place. I know my w201 is going to need both sill/rocker panels replaced. The front jack holes are horrible.

My 124 on the other hand is rust free. Two of my 126s could benefit from the rear quarter panel being replaced.

I'll be interested to see / hear what you think of the quality.

For the W123 floor pans I was less than impressed with Klokkerholm parts. However, JB3 has had a good experience with W123 rear wings =>

new purchase, 1 dollar 240

(The new metal work is about page 12 on the standard forum settings)

I'll be sure to post up plenty of pics and whatnot. I'm going to put the 190 back into the daily rotation for driving. Currently I daily drive my 300D to work (128miles round trip) I think I might do 3 days of 300D, 2 days of 190E. The 190 will be parked in the winter though.

They arrived!

Quality seems alright. Apply enough coatings and should be fine.
