Engine Surge When Changing Gears, '84 380SEL

Every time I shift out of Drive or Reverse the RPM's rise to about 1200. Stopping in neutral for a second before shifting makes the shift smoother.

Could be the closed loop micro switch on the throttle linkage, or you have vacuum leaks. My 420sel ran a high idle until I replaced all the air hoses on the engine and the injector o-rings. Used to be 1200 in park, and a loaded up 900 in drive, now its 600 in drive, 900-950 in park.

Thank's for the response, when it stops raining I'll go out and "tinker". Getting good at it, found almost all of the vacuum leaks on my '85 W123 200T .
