Hi there guys..I have recently purchased a non-runner 500se.Low mileage car with a rusty fuel tank.I had the tank repaired and coated, replaced the fuel pumps filter etc. When I first switched on the ignition I heard the pumps working and filling up.I then turned over the key and the engine turned over but did not start for longer than 2 seconds and then dies.If I pump the pedal it refuses to start...turning just the key it starts for a few seconds and dies? There is fuel getting to the mixer but I fear not enough?Should the pumps be heard every time you start the car?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...service and repair costs in Africa are very high and I am quite willing to do the work myself. I have had several Merc's but this is my first problem child..even my 65 fin-tail is flawless!
