Has anyone had a fuel pump, that tested with good pressure. But failed at fuel volume?
I really think that is my problem all along.

Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail and its vacuum line ?

yes sir,new regulator, pressure rises to 60 psi under light load, never checked high load.Car feels like its running out of gasoline.I heard a pump can test good on pressure but fail on volume. Pump has 178,000 miles.

IF ... you have a check valve in the return line check that.

Bought a lovely Volvo wagon with a bad check valve. A quarter got me a good working one at pnp.

A clogged fuel filter can do that.

Also gas tanks can have crud inside them which restricts flow. You can use a lighted USB inspection camera to peek inside the fuel tank.
