Vacuum line for AT modulator (103)
I'm getting hard clunking shifts from my tranny after doing extensive work around my engine bay (head gasket and timing cover work). My flex couplers are taking a beating!
I suspect I broke a brittle vacuum line somewhere ... possibly the Auto tranny modulator line. Can someone please tell me where this line is located in the bay? Or any other possible causes for this sudden change in shifting? TIA! ~Paul ___________________ '91 300E, 208k miles |

Paul,
The vacuum modulator line comes up from the tranny on the driver's side and goes to the intake manifold right next to the oil filter. Theres a u-shaped rubber hose that the plastic line pokes into. Then the u-shape goes on a nipple on the intake. I knocked mine off once doing an oil change. I had a rough idle and the harsh shifts you described. Dennis
