Glow Plugs
I just brought home my very first Mercedes. It is a 1974 240D. It seems a bit hard to start sometimes. What is the best way to test the glow plugs?

GP diagnosis?
What is the engine model number? I may have a diagnostic procedure for testing the GPs. If I do, I can scan the pages and e-mail them if you want.

Try posting in the Diesel Discussion area. There are many there that have your same car. As far as your problem here is a list of suggestions. 1) New glow plugs 2) Valve adjustment 3) New Fuel filters 4) Diesel purge 5) Check alternator output at battery with engine running, shoud be 13.5-14.2 V. If not tighten belt. Also if you live in a colder climate a block heater helps in the mornings. |
