Unhappy Coolant Leak

I've got a 1991 190e 2.3 8v. When the heater's on I don't get any coolant leak but when the heat is off I get coolant leaking. It almost appears that it's coming from behind the firewall. Any ideas what it could be?

Excuse my ignorance but what does the monovalve do? I've done a search and I don't see anything real specific. Is it possible that it could be leaking from somewhere else as i'm not showing any of the other symptoms of a leaky monovalve?
