190e maunal trans swap HELP
I purchased a transmission recently to put in my 85 190 and I am trying to make sure I have my ducks in a row before I purchase more parts
The transmission is a 717411 out of an 87 190d, I like the ratios in this tranny, that is why I chose it It appears to me that the 190d uses a single mass flywheel, and I have read that the input shaft may be a different length I intend on purchasing the other parts needed tonight and want to know if a dual mass 190e flywheel will work with this transmission |

No a dual mass flywheel will not work with that transmission. Dual mass trans uses a different length input shaft than single mass.

The W201.122 190D chassis had a whole bunch of different gearboxes fitted =>
Mercedes Benz EPC 201.122 Chassis Information | Everything Benz The 717.411 is amongst them as is the 717.412 which was fitted to petrol engines (M102s) and diesels (W201 and W124 - OM601) So I don't think the shaft won't be a problem. I wasn't aware that dual mass flywheels were fitted to W201 petrol engines. My M102.910 doesn't have one.

I don't think it is a dual mass, I happened to read some incorrect information, false alarm, Now I need to figure out the wiring, looking at the diagrams it looks like I need to cut and splice some wires

Depending on which year the gearbox came out of and which year its going into, you might need the correct ignition timing windows on the flywheel.

You'll be fine then. Early cars don't have timing windows. Just use the same same flywheel that came with the transmission.

No idea. As far as I know all the M102s and M103s that came to the US had a dual mass flywheel after a certain date and I'm pretty sure the same is true about M104s since my flywheel had a 104 PN. That dual mass now lives behind my OM603.

does anyone happen to know the thread specs for the shift knobs, the factory ones are expensive and not too appealing, I would love to put a momo shift knob on it
