CLK55 Idler Pulley Bolt
While traveling home this last weekend, the idler pulley disintegrated and I ended up riding in a flatbed. The bolt retaining the pulley, or I should say what's left of it appears to be a Torx, but I'm not really sure. Can anyone tell me what size Torx or Allen wrench is needed to remove it? Thank you in advance!

T50 if I recall correctly.
And I believe you have to pull the radiator or raise the engine to get it all the way out. Good luck. |

You're right! Found a T50, broke the rascal loose and started to pull her out. Continued to pull and realized it must be attached to the back of the block!! After it hit the radiator, and still wasn't out, I realized that the second part of your response was also true.
At 74 years young I think removing the radiator would be the most prudent approach. A couple of questions come to mind. Is the radiator a stand alone item or is it attached to the AC condensor? Is there any other pitfalls that I should be aware of? Any help/suggestions would be deeply appreciated! Thank you in advance!

You should be able to pull out the radiator without disturbing the air conditioning.
You may have to discconnect the transmission cooling lines though. |
