type of trans fluid for 722.3 my wifes 190E 2.6 is a pint or so low I would like to top it off, auto zone gave me castrol trans max but I do not see Mercedes listed on the back of the jug. my question is this compatible with the fluid in the car or will it hurt the trans? |

 Whatever is Dexron3/Mercon compatible. |

autozone brand is actually Dexron III. That is the recommended fluid for the MB 190E model. |

this is castrol transmax import multi-vehicle oil not auto zone brand. |

Yes, but if it doesn't specify on the back that it can be used with vehicles calling for dexron3 or dexmerc 3 (?) then you can take it back and swap |

Is this also the same fluid recommended for a '88 300SEL? My moms car is well overdue for a tranny fluid and filter change. The gasket has been leaking for awhile and we have refilled with Dexron III when it gets low and haven't had any issues, so I think this is the fluid to use for the '88. I think it has the 722.3 transmission as well? Also wondering if it is just a simple remove the pan, drain fluid and reinstall new filter kind of deal, or is there a special technique for draining/refilling on these? Thanks! |
