190e fan clutch
Thanks to all of you who sent ideas and recommendations regarding the overheating problem of my 190e.
I am affraid the problem is in the fan clutch. Following a recommendation from a friend, I carefully inserted a plastic stick covered with a towel into the fan area and to my surprise the fan stopped at contact. Please help me confirm that in deed the problem is the clutch. It is my understanding that the clutch should had kept the fan rotating rather than stopping. The engine was not too hot when the test was done. If I have to replace the fan clutch, do I have to remove the radiator? Could it be done by just removing the fan cover? Please advise. benzoso |
