300E power window fun
I recently purchased an 87 300E where the rear right passenger window will go down from the door switch but not back up. It won't do anything from the center console switch. I tried swapping center switches and door switches but to no avail. What now...?

Take the window switch out of the rear door but don't disconnect the plug and check with a test light the green and black wire. The test light should light up on both wires. When you raise or lower the window one of the wires will lose power. If they do lose power then the motor for the power window is bad.

Well concider yorself lucky, my rear right dosn't even work, looks like a motor issue...But hey im never in the back while it's moving, so it's all good...
Hope u fix it:D :D |
Silly electrical question...for Stan
Previously, my window would only go down. OK, in my switch, I reversed the black and the green and the window went up (when I pushed down). I cleaned all switches in the center and in the door, is the motor bad?

perhaps it is the window regulator..
doa search for window regulator and see what you come up with... Alon |
If you had the window going down, and after swapping wires, it went up, then the motor and regulator are OK. If replacing BOTH the center console switch and door switch SIMULTANEOUSLY with good ones doesn't solve the problem, I'd suspect a broken wire in the doorjamb area.
