2.3-16 vlv ?

Ok I will try to keep this as short as possible. I was driving home in my 87 2.3-16v and turned in my driveway. I proceeded up my lane in 2D gear at about 3,000 rpm. Next thing I knew I heard a mysterious "clank" noise and lost oil pressure. I immediately killed the car b/c of the loss of oil pressure. I got out and let the car sit for about 5 minutes while I looked around the engine bay to make sure that I didn't punch a hole in the block. I then started up the car and it sounds like pistons and valves meeting together. Now I know that in this (102.983) engine it is a dual chain set up and it is supposed to be difficult as hell to jump time. But if the oil pump (gear) failed would this cause the car to jump time easier? Thanks in advance for your input :D

Unless you have a EURO 2.5 engine the chain is a single row!! And they will jump/break very easily. You need to remove valve cover to inspect the damage.
