W140 Headlight Lense Cover Removal???

Can anyone tell me, or point me to detailed directions, on how to remove the headlight lense covers of a W140 ('95 S500)?

I need to clean the insides, however, I don't want to take apart anything until I get directions.

Thanks!

Head light lenese replacement

I understand the diagram. My only concern is that the
mini wiper blade is in the way of allowing me to pull
the trim and bottom head light lense clip.

Any ideas on how I can remove the wiper blade?

Many Thanks,

Tully Lee

* Thanks for the diagram.

on your wiperblade arm, look for where the water comes out to clean you headlights, pull that part out and you should see a screw where you can loosen it up to remove the wiper arm/blade. if you need pics email me @ RL98@Cornell.edu

Here's the before and after... I strongly recommend this 15 minute process.

wow!!

oestek:i'm not trying to be funny but i assume those are in the order of :after and before .am i right?is it really that easy?did it only take 15 minutes?looks great!i know what i'm doin' next weekend, now!

Right....

The order on the photos is reversed... the left side is after, the right; before.

The process is pretty simple, I actually removed the wiper, then the clips around the light, and then CAREFULLY pried the lens from the housing, all on the car. I didn't remove the lens, just pulled the glass far enough away from the housing to slip my hand in with a glass cleaning wipe and rub the inside of the lens. I don't know if I recommend doing this without taking the light off of the car first, as you can probably crack the lens pretty easlily the way I did it. However, it's much faster than removing the whole light assembly.

Worked for me.

Again, do it SLOWLY and CAREFULLY!

Re: Right....

I am new in this website. I find this information to be useful. However, I still do not understand why you did not take the entire lens out. I was under the impression that once you take the clips off the lens it would be completlely loose. Is there something else holding it after you take the clips off. The lens im my S320 1994 on the driver side is damaged, do know where I could get a lens for this car, it could be used but in good shape. Thank you.

RE: Lens

I didn't completely remove the lens, because in all honesty, I didn't know the trick to removing the turn signal housing until today.

SO, I was able to leave the outside most clips attached to the headlight lens and pry it open and reach in to clean it.

Next time I'll pull the turn signals. The process is in the owner's manual.

Re: RE: Lens

Thank you for answering back. I have been looking at doing this for a while but I was a bit intimidated. I will not be taking the lens of until I find the lens I am looking for. . For some reason it is against the law to sell the lens without the assembly. I am triying to find OE one. So in order to take the complete lens out you need to take this turning light off?. In regards to the turning light I was informed in the dealer that in order to remove this light you have to push it from the iniside out, I tried it but it was awfuly hard and was afraid to break something. If you or anyone has taken it out please let me know how it went. Thank you.

I also have a headlight lens that recently got a rock chip and needs to be replaced. 93 400SEL. I have not checked with the dealer yet, but are you serious? They will not sell you just the glass lens part separately?
The lens assy. is around $300-400 I think!
Removing the turn signal lenses is pretty easy. I think there was a diagram in the box when I put in the aftermarket clear lenses, its pretty easy.
