1981 300td Vanity Mirrors

The original visors were shot so I picked up a pair of lighted vanity mirror visors at a local junk...I mean *Salvage* yard.

My car is not wired for them, and *I* do not want them.
My wife on the other hand insists on them.

Do you think that it would be fairly simple to wire them up?
I mean, would I run the wires off the dome light?
Or would I be better off running them straight to the battery like I did with my radio.

If you think this is a relatively painless/possible project, please advise where to route wires (if going directly to the battery)

Thanks!!

I would tap into a line that has switched power only to make sure that there is a fuse in line. As far as running the wires you can go up the A pillar.

Lighted W123 visors...

To make 'em work, you need to get the "clip" gizmos outta' the parts car. That's where the connection for the power feed is. Been there. My '81 wagon (that is scattered all over the place) has the overhead console and (lighted) mirrors, etc. out of my '85 parts car.

Thanks guys!
One last question:

For my radio memory wire, I added an in-line fuse and connected directly to the battery. Would the same logic apply here?
*OR*
If I connect to "switched power" line, where would that be? Do you mean something that is only powered up when the car is on?
(Or is the dome light sufficient?)

Jethro Tull: By clips do you mean the metal connection in the visor hinge itself or is there something that I need to go back and get. I took the visors AND the mounting brackets off the other car... is this enough?

Thanks again!

Visors....

On my '85.....the + power feed was a brass contact in the "clip" attached to the overhead console adjacent to the inside rear view mirror (ie: visor lights don't work if the visor isn't "latched" in place) and the ground connection was the hinge at the outer end. If they're like mine....if you pop the plastic box/lid out of the visor it'll make sense.
