1985 mercedes 190e
hello, first time user on here. I have a 1985 Mercedes 190e which I bought about 9 months ago. It has recently started to use a lot more gas, an unbelievable amount. I am going to the gas station every day and it's getting expensive. I am guessing it needs a tune up but I am not a mechanic so I don't know what it could be. I just know it didn't do this before and any advice would be appreciated.

Please tell us more. 2.3, 2.6? Automatic?
I've got an '84 myself. It gets around 22 mpg. Possibly, do you have a gas leak? What does your tailpipe look like? Is it black inside? Pull a spark plug and see what it looks like. If it's black, you are running a very rich gas mixture. There is lots more to do... Good luck.

How many mpg is it averaging. "Gas station every day" makes sense if you are driving 300 miles a day....but not if driving 50 miles Need more information. If its using gas excessively there'd be horrible exhaust fumes/gas smell when the car was running, if it ran at all....
