Door close assist S600
It's the front passenger door that doesn't suck itself closed, all the other doors and trunk work fine. I reset by removing the fuse but the door still doesn't close itself. I believe the lock actuator is bad, how would I confirm that? Any help would be appreciated.

Take the actuator off and test it against the 12v battery. Not familiar with your car, but that seems like a straight forward test.

Welcome to the forum,
The pump is in the trunk-on the top left. Do you hear the pump working when you close the door? Open the trunk and hear it running with the other doors. Martin |
Thanks. The pump does run just like for all the other doors.
|
Then the lock actuator is working. The possibilities:
A)Broken nipple at the pump B)Leak to the front door C)Vacuum motor broken latch/leaking I would swap a vacuum line at the pump with another door to qualify the vacuum to the door. Also, if the vacuum connection is wobbly, nipple is broken. The problem is right there. Here is some food for thought...Post 12 A wonderful article about Close Assist Pump by Brett - Mercedes-Benz Forum MArtin |
It may be the vacuum actuator in the passenger door. Listen for a vacuum leak while closing the door.
|
Thanks for all the help. It does sound like air sucking at the door.

Good, To get to it is a royal pain..
Best of luck, Martin |
Lol isn't everything on cars. Any one know where to get this part? I would rather not go directly to MB, although they are probably the only place that will have it.
|
The part is available it is called a "vacuum element". The replacement job is tedious but doable.
