need help to diagnose a whine from the rear 2000 ML55

Hi all,
I have a 2000 ML55 ANG, seems to have developed a whine that seems to be emanating from the right rear wheel. I only notice it a road speed 35mph and above. Its not super loud, and is more noticeable when slowing down and braking. Rear pads and rotors were replaced back in August, followed by a 1800 mile road trip. No issues. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

Rear end whine

If the differential fluid was changed recently it could be the cause of the whine..only use MB differential fluid. It has all the additives needed. Otherwise, I'd suspect a wheel bearing.

If you can get it up on a lift you should be able to figure it out in no time. Unplug the ESP hydraulic unit to prevent traction system intervention and have a helper run it up to speed while you locate the noise. A stethoscope with a long probe will make this easy. I do stuff like this all the time to diagnose wheel bearings, diff's, driveshaft bearings, etc.
