help with 190e popping noise

Hopefully sombeody else has come across this. A search turned up nuthin. When ever I go around a corner that causes the car to lean I get a very distinct pop on the passenger side rear. I have checked EVERYTHING in the rear suspension and can't find anything. Removed all of the panels in the trunk to look around, nuthin. Because it only happens when the rear wheels aren't deflected equally I suspected the stabilizer or bushings but all looks well. It all started after I put new rear shocks on. All the bushings on those are tight and correct. If i go over a bump that deflects both rear wheels equally no noise. Rules out the shocks?
Any suggestion? This popping is driving me nuts!!!

TIA
Dan

examine the rear subframe mounts. The front mounts will show excessive movement when you pry between the body and rear subframe at the lower front mounting points. Also check the thrust arms. Those are the rear links that are about a 45 degree angle to the rear axles. To check for play grab the link with the biggest channel locks you can find and move it to examine for excessive movement. If you check without some sort of lever you wont find any play.

You need to check the rear multilink suspension thoroughly. However, since you mentioned side-to-side movement I'd put some money on the control arm bushings (more than likely outer which is attached to bottom of knuckle assy) or sway bar links (vertical links that connect sway bar to control arm).

Great advice! All I did was a visual. I will repeat the inspection with a tool that can ascert some leverage.

Thanx folks!

Solved !!!

Turned out the stabilizer link on the passenger side rear was loose at the control arm and stabilizer bar. Just to be safe I removed the link to make sure the bolts waren't worn, they weren't .
Ahhh, nice and quiet cornering.

Thanx!!
Dan
