ESP and ABS lights on 97 S600
 

Hello. When I start the car, in 1 seconds 2 lights (ESP and ABS) yellow lights come on. Anyone else had this problem? How to fix it?

The only way to diagnose this car is with a scan tool!

Scan tool showed "stop light switch" has to be replaced
 

Scan tool not at Mercedes dealership showed "stop light switch" has to be replaced. Is this possible???

I just last week posted a similar thread. My ASR and ABS lights both went on, and after a scan proved to be the stop lamp switch. If you get a hold of the schematic for the engine control computer, the brake lamp switch does indeed feed into the computer, and if it goes lame on you it can cause this malfunction. Be grateful; it's a cheap fix!
