190e driveshaft center support bearing question

Ive located my problem on a 1985 cossie 190e w/ 5spd driveshaft noise ,after seperating the driveshafts it shows a sloppy trans support ,worn center bearing support for the driveshaft ,and the rear flex disc which was toast.I have all my parts but have come across another issue about how to remove the old center bearing off the shaft ,the bearing has 2 covers on either side but are soft metal ,a bearing seperator with a bench press is accessable ,should I set the seperator behind the bearing?I dont see any c-clips in play .The Reason I ask is I was told that Mercedes has driveshafts were the u-joints are un servicable ,I wont try to remove the center support bearing if this is the same case, just buy a new bearing mount and ride with the old bearing.

center bearing is easily replaced....I pried off the little metal shields carefully with a flat screwdriver, then you can use an air hammer to pop off the old bearing, and a hammer piece of wood/to carefully tap the new one in place. I did that on my 190 several thousand miles ago and its been running smooth.

I decided to let a driveshaft shop pull off the old 1 and install the new ,$40 was well worth it as well as how difficult and expensive it would have been to replace this DS , I was qouted $420 to just RR the joints,I was explained about the procedure of drilling out the old ones ,the special tools needed in balancing ,etc, etc, the labor vs parts cost.

smart move to have the shop do it

Note to self (Hydraulic ),why oh why did I not start here.My first look at the problem did seem plausable for a driveshaft issue but further rethinking the slip catch scenerio it looks more like a brake master cylinder leaking or slave at this point. It was slipping the brakes when on hard braking giving reason to believe the brake booster was leaking fluid, the brake reservior is the same for the clutch hydraulics so a related issue could be clutch master or slave C. In days past I had owned a 190d 5spd with this hydraulic repair needed ,I just dont remember it being on and off an occurance and the brake resorvior was running dry quickly ,this time on this car it maybe because of such a slow leak.My first post did not give the orig. problem ,the car would bang out of gear ,this was happening when starting off from first or reversing ,this was the problem .A great old car with alot of potential .
