My seatbelt retracts very very slowly...
Hey everyone! Here is the problem, my front driver side seatbelt has some trouble retracting after use. It just flops around and takes a long time to retract. Recently, ive been having to feed it manually back into the little "slot" where is comes out of the side pillar, and after a while the tensioning mecheanism kicks in, but very slowly... so what is the problem? And is it a diy job? Thanks!

Just a quick thought have you pulled it all the way out to check it hasn't become twisted on it's roller?Bear

just checked that, and its not twisted in any way...

I also have this problem on my 126. I asked the dealership if this is easy to fix/DIY and they told me not to try it myself. Apparently the seatbelt mechanism shouldn't be tampered with for obvious safety reasons.
Oh, and by the way, they quoted me $800 to replace it... Thanks, I'll just help it retract... Hope this helps Peter 88 420sel 88 300e |
well that bites, I figured the emergency tensioning mechanism was different from the retracting mechanism... oh well, I guess I too will just have to live with it...
