How did it die? If not mechanical failure, and it's high mileage, just replace the regulator-brush assembly.

It should swap though the wires on the back might be in a different clock position. Big wire goes to battery, small wire is warning light.

In order to get a 97 C280 running I used a Bosch 70-115 from a 95 E320 to replace a Bosch 60 -120 . I have a 97 E320 parts car with a Valeo and it looks like that would swap out for a Bosch.

thx for your inputs. car just lost acceleration while cruizing at 70. checked alternator at autozone, failed. bosch will not work per mechanic. it has lot of grimes and oil on it. ordered valeo 90amp 12v. will install this weekend and report. thanks again.
