lifter preload???
 

im replacing rocker arms and the manual is saying to adjust the rocker arm nut until you are at zero lash with no lifter preload>> what does this mean??>> does no lifter preload mean tighten the rocker until the pushrod is just starting to compress the spring in the lifter ,, or tighten the rocker just until the pushrod has absorbed the spring in the lifter?? any help would be greatly appreciated>>

What kind of car & engine?? MB hasn't had a "pushrod" engine since the 50'S. ON the M116 & M117 engines the pre-load on the lifters should be "checked", requires a special tool.
