Hydraulic leak above visor
I have a hydraulic leak above the driver's side visor...probably comming from something to do with latching the top. Any ideas?
Thanks |
I wonder what kind of car it is.

I am guessing this is an sl 129 body style . I have seen the hydraulic actuators leak as well as the lines going to them. You will have to pull the panel above the windshield ( where the top sets in ) and go from there.

Definitely the locking hydraulic cylinders. I've seen many leak due to old contaminated fluid. They are usually the first ones to go south. I don't want to scare you, but when those leak the others cylinders are not too far behind.
It's a good idea to change fluid in these systems every 2-3 years. Good luck, Vin |
Thank you, this is a 129 body (91 300SL). I have inquired as to the cost to replace the cylinder and it seems to be upwards of $300 each...wow...does that seem right?
I will also look into change the fluid as well Thanks for the suggestions. |
That is a very high estimate for the front locking cylinders (129-800-16-72). I think the cost is about $115 each. Shouldn't take more than an hour to change both.

Thank you, I'll do some looking around. Do you have any suggestions where to look on the internet...I'm in Hawaii and the availability here is limited.
Thanks again. |
