Diesel engine for conversion
 

Brainstorming about the possibility of using a 617 turbo-diesel engine out of an '81 300TDT to repower a '52 military Dodge M37.

Has anyone ever had experience using MB diesel engines for utility power source applications?

Any difference in the engine when used for manual transmission vs. automatic?

All thoughts & comments apreciated.

Make sure the 617 crank has provision for a pilot bearing if you need one. Have you talked to the folks in the Unimog forum?
