Will a hood from a 1987 300 sdl fit on a 1983 sd

Howdy, I am trying to replace some body parts on my 1983 300 sd. I found a 1987 300 sdl parts car for sale nearby. I know both have the w126 chassis but I know the sdl body us a little different body (its a longer wheel base). Will the hood and front driver side fender from the sdl fit on my sd?

The hoods are the same. Gassers will have a steel hood that will also work, and the hood from an SEC coupe is different and would not work..

Great, thanks for the reply. You wouldn't happen to know whether the driver's side fender is the same as well?

If the hood is the same, the fender is definitely also the same. EDIT: Aaand... I take it back. The fender will be different because the second-gen W126es used different side trim:

I'm not sure if the cladding can be swapped or not.

BTW, you'd probably be best off posting questions related to diesel cars in Diesel Discussion, since it gets a whole lot more traffic than this here gasser side does .

The fenders are probably the same. They are on 124s and 201s with and without the cladding. The clips that hold on the cladding make use of the same holes the trim strips do on the pre-cladding cars.

Actually an SDL hood is steel just like the gassers. But it should bolt in place of your aluminum hood without issue.
