'85 280SE stalls when warm then starts hard
My 85 280SE German Model stalls when the engine is warm. It will start but is hard and requires feathering throttle to bring RPM's up. Can't trust it because it doesn't do it all the time. Starts and runs fine when cold. It recently has had a tune up with new plugs, wires, cap, valve adjustment, fuel pump and filters. Also new complete s.s. exhaust system. I'm in the Bethesda, MD area and use a local guy that specializes in older German models. He says he will either fix it or retire! Gotta love that attitude!! Just trying to help him out. Any ideas out there?

I have a German model 1985 SE and it exhibits the same problem described. After I've driven for around 2 hrs. and come to a traffic light, the car will stall (engine dies) and I have to start it as if it is flooded. It usually starts up and if I rev it a bit or keep the accelerator depressed a bit (to rev at 1100 rpm or so) it stays running, but rough. I'm interested in any insight to solve this one as well. I've only had the car a short while, therefore don't know when it actually began to do this.
