acceleration problem

car his minimal power when accelerating. on sine occasions I will accelerate and have my foot all the way c down and the rpm well rev up but I will only be stuck at about 45 mph. My take off is really sluggish as well. car bogs down and will only go about 20 mph even when flooring it. It does eventually go faster but I'd say my 0-60 time is at least 20 seconds.. Anyone got any ideas?

hmm why don't you think its the cat?

how does it rev in neutral?

Any fault codes from the CIS x11 port?

observe throttle linkage in the engine bay? does it actually move all the way?

This statement here sounds like excessive slip, pointing to a transmission problem. First step would be fluid level check.

Any issues with the transmission prior to this event?

Does it shift gears? How poor or how well? Quality of the shifts?

Any chance of a video of all of this? Your descriptions will pale in comparison to a video.

Checked fluid level while car was idling at operating temp and sure enough the level was low.....added some fluid and everything seems to be back to normal, won't know for sure until I get a fresh start tomorrow. Interesting that the fluid was low; My trans doesn't leak and I just had a used one put in back in December.

Acceleration problem: RESOLVED

Problem was a faulty throttle microswitch (part number 0025456814). Replaced part, now everything is fine.

I finally got mine to take off quick from the line when warm. I think it was really a collection of things that were old and messed up. I'm not a fan of "throwing parts" but with the age of these cars they do seem to need full rebuilds.
