Fastlane and Partsshop at the top of the page seem to be able to get just about anything, and have really decent prices - in one case my Tech said it was lower than HIS prices on parts.

Besides, this is their site, it might be courteous to offer them the business first.

My dealer gives me 10% off parts because I am a MB car club member.

Do you have their contact info?

Caliber Motors is where I get oem parts. Trim, mouldings and items that Fastlane would not have.

Call Don 1-800-252-6877. He knows MB`s like the back of his hand.

Please excuse this rant but...

Hey everybody! See the Blue buttons across the top of this page? Why not check them ALL out and see the interesting stuff there. For example, PartsShop takes you to LOTS of parts, even when You don't know the part number or name, and FastLane makes it easy to order common stuff.

A necessary function of this site is to SELL PARTS in order to stay up on the webb! Hopefully, web site expenses can be covered -- with something left over for the owners efforts!

You DO NOT KNOW what all PartsShop has in stock unless you check with them. They have surprised me before. They seem to continually add more stuff to the inventory. It's easy to find out by email or a toll free call if they have what you need at a good price.

If one is willing to take the advice offered by total strangers on this site, why not allow the owners of this site, all reputable business men with an address and phone number, show what THEY can offer?

Remember what AssUMe makes out of U and Me

Fastlane does not sell Oem grills ,sill plates, clips to hold rear seats in, chrome trim, original interior trim.

Thats what I use Caliber Motors for, they have the best prices in the whole country on these parts.

The original post wanted a Mercedes dealer, not a jobber.

Actually, I got my OE grill, trim molding, mounting clips, etc from Partsshop on this site. On another occasion I wanted some OE interior items as well, and they could get them for me in the right color for less than my dealer, but they pointed out to me that their shipping would drive the price up over the local dealers charge, and suggested I save money by purchasing it locally! Nice folks to deal with!

The original post indicated saving money, and went on to specify a dealer source. If I can get the same MB OE part from this site for less money than from a dealer, I will buy it here. Example, When I bought my MB OE sport rims, Caliber wanted $20 more per wheel than Partsshop quoted. My friend who owns a tire shop sold them to me for his cost since I was buying the tires there (about $10/wheel less than here, $30/wheel less than Caliber), so that was the route I took. It doesn't cost anything to check before you spend, and it may cost money to assume only a dealer can get the part.

Also, if there is a demand for a certain part, or parts, and PartsShop or Fastlane do not stock that part, chances are they can get the part for you anyway. Hell, I needed a pair of fresh air intake filters for the 108 (try finding those), dealer wanted a bunch of money and a 3 week wait. One call to PartsShop and whicle they didn't have the parts in their database, in just a few days, I had a set at my door (and now the part number is in the database). Fine example of "it never hurts to ask". Granted there may be some things they can't get, but chances are good they can lay their hands on most items.

FastLane

As much as I understand the convenience of driving to a local dealer and picking up your parts, as much as I appreciate the prices on FastLane, I have and an early W140 as many of you know and I came to find out (recently) lots of issues. I have bought all of and any parts I needed from FastLane and they had it all, some parts took longer to get than others, but in the end I got it all. Phil is very helpful if you give him a call or drop him E-mail.

I am no part owner or have anything to do with his site, but FastLane is my first stop for any parts I need, since I can get parts here cheaper than my mechanic can get them. And most often same or even better quality.

Nearest dealer to me is 45 minute drive each way. Prices about 60 % higher than FastLane/PartShop and the few times I'd have been willing to spend extra to get it that day, they needed two days to get the part. I haven't found anything Phil couldn't get deliver in two days for less money, and I don't have a two hour round trip to pick it up.

Example--transmission dipstick showed "not available" from FastLane, called and Phil said list was 15.50, could get it, but I should buy local. Called dealer, they said 29.63 and two days to order. Called Phil back and had one shipped by Airborne delivered to my door the next morning, less than 24.00 (should have ordered some other stuff also). In spite of shipping cost, saved 6.00 on part, sales tax, 4 gallons fuel, and two hours of my time.

No vested interest other than a desire to support this site which has saved me a ton of money, time and effort.
